ABOUT THIS ARTIST
My name is Harold Dumas, and I was born in Chicopee, Mass in 1954. I grew up in Ludlow Mass and currently reside in Holyoke Mass, where I paint out of my home.My earliest artistic influence came from my father, who was skilled in pencil and charcoal portrait drawings. As a teenager, I became interested in painting with oils. Initially, I studied "how-to" art books, and later, I followed the work of television artists William Alexander and Bob Ross.I am primarily self-taught, having utilized resources such as books and the internet to develop my skills. I find that Youtube and Patreon are particularly useful for discovering and learning from other artists, as they provide a wealth of information on techniques, tips, and tricks. I continue to use these resources as my guide for teaching myself.I work primarily with fast-drying alkyd oils, using a layering technique. My main focus is on landscapes and cityscapes in my local area of Western Massachusetts, which I paint based on my own photographs. I also enjoy painting still lifes, pets, and portraits.I invite you to enjoy my work and to check in from time to time for new offerings. Additionally, I am available for commissions.
